I have the light phone II. It lasted a day before I felt it was too restricted. My current solution is being VERY explicit in what apps I install. Second, I use Nova Launcher (no home screen icons or widgets) and Easy Drawer. Swipe up on home screen shows Easy Drawer. This is beautifully simple, and fast access to apps.

These apps are engineered for your attention, so the machine certainly contributes to the problem and these companies certainly be doing more to help. I think placing the blame entirely on the user is unfair. I do agree however, that creating an all new device to address these issues isn’t the magical fix to the problem of wanting your attention. If it helps you be the person you want to be, by all means, purchase the Light Phone II. But it’s not necessary. Since the companies aren’t doing enough to help you, sometimes you need to take the reins yourself - that’s when your article is most helpful. :)
