Apple plans to add support for RCS messaging on iPhones starting in 2024, enabling features like read receipts and high-res media when texting between iPhone and Android devices. This move is a response to regulatory pressure from the European Union's Digital Markets Act, which requires companies to make their services interoperable with other platforms. Despite the introduction of RCS, iMessage will remain the primary and most secure messaging experience for Apple users, existing separately from the new messaging standard.
