Microsoft will allow Windows 11 users in the European Economic Area (EEA) to disable Bing web search, remove Microsoft Edge, and add custom web search providers, including Google, as part of compliance with the European Commission's Digital Markets Act. These changes are aimed at meeting interoperability and competition rules, allowing users to uninstall pre-installed apps and change default settings. Only Windows 11 users in the EEA will have the ability to fully remove Microsoft Edge and Bing from Windows Search, while also gaining access to new interoperability features for feeds and web search.
