The article discusses the best note-taking apps, mentioning Evernote, Google Keep, Apple Notes, Bear Notes, Notion, Joplin, Obsidian, and OneNote as top contenders. Bear Notes is lauded for its excellent interface and features, with the ability to organize notes using tags and offering formatting options. The free version is available, but syncing across devices requires the Pro version. Although Evernote has faced criticism for privacy missteps and increased fees, it still provides a comprehensive note-taking experience with features like note organization, web clipping, and AI capabilities. Paid versions offer more advanced features.

I've been a OneNote user for years, but I've been trying Loop (MS's spin on Notion) and Obsidian recently too

Overall I like the UI better in Loop, you don't have to learn markdown and there are a good number of blocks to choose from. Obsidian is more versatile (especially with plugins) and cleaner in terms of UI.

Todays app should be as simple as it is possible cause it is one of its advantages to get more users which is a good point about loop.

The deal killers for me so far with Loop are: lack of the ability to save a page as a template (at least in the preview), no hashtag functionality (the labels functionality is too limited), no quick command menu like Obsidian.

I've spent a year "note hopping" and ended up back at Evernote, personally the closest alternative for my needs was Onenote

OneNote also has one huge advantage in that it is free and sync is free through a free OneDrive account.
