Microsoft introduces two homegrown chips, Maia and Cobalt, to be used alongside processors from other traditional chipmakers in its data centers. The Maia chip is designed for AI workloads on Microsoft Azure and will also be used with OpenAI's technology. The move allows Microsoft to offer customers more choices and addresses the shortage of Nvidia chips for AI processing.
