TIL Omegle is shutting down. Omegle was an anonymous web chat room that pair you with other user randomly. When I was in college, the site was text based and only supported 1-on-1 chat. The JavaScript API was really easy to hack and I remember my roommate did all sorts of silly things. He would start multiple sessions and let people “group chat”. People thought they are talking to one another but it was actually 1 v 3. That’s the first time I experienced man-in-the-middle attack.
