If you don’t know where you want to go, how on earth do you know how you’ll get there? And if you don’t know, don’t expect your team to know either. #startups #business #tech #leadership

Love this. Whats your take on working backwards with (1) tactics, (2) strategy, (3) vision, and (4) then systems-wide mission? I was reading this #HBR article on how to create an anti-fragile strategy by running sprints to get to a grander mission when dealing with the fast pace of tech 👇 https://hbr.org/2019/07/how-to-do-strategic-planning-like-a-futurist I know this isn’t an either-or question but “yes, and.” I think both approaches attempt to solve the coordinate issue as your team or company scales and I wonder what is the right amount of each.

The Virgo in me questions the work backwards approach. At the end of the day someone has to have a vision for why you’re doing the things you’re doing. It probably just hasn’t been articulated or written down.

I love this answer. It’s practical and realistic. It’s a mix of intuition and reason but also knowing that some form of vision is a minimum requirement.
