Another impact event on Jupiter was observed by a Japanese amateur astronomer, resulting in a short-lived flash. This recent impact was smaller in scale compared to previous ones, such as the impact from Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 in 1994. The object, possibly fragments of a comet or asteroid, collided with molecules in Jupiter's atmosphere and exploded like a fireball.
