Archaeologists in Germany excavate a 600-year-old skeleton with an iron prosthetic hand, replacing four missing fingers. The prosthetic fingers were made of sheet metal and appeared to have been amputated, but it remains unclear how or why. Similar prosthetics from the late Middle Ages and early modern period have been found in Central Europe, indicating demand for prosthetics in those times.
