Instagram's Threads app, inspired by Twitter, is testing the use of clickable blue tags instead of traditional hashtags to categorize posts by interest or theme. Initially rolling out in Australia, the feature allows users to type a "#" symbol followed by text to create a tag, though the symbol itself won't be displayed. While more elegant and focused on reducing spam, Threads currently only allows one tag per post, limiting users who wish to combine or search for multiple hashtags.

This is a cool test and I feel like it would force people to write organically. Although I feel like marketers would ruin it again my writing content to optimize for clickable blue tagged words…
