Former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman have been hired by Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team. Altman was fired from OpenAI after the board lost confidence in him, and negotiations to bring him back as OpenAI CEO failed. Former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear has been named as interim CEO of OpenAI, while Microsoft has formed its own custom AI chip and built its own Arm-based CPU.
