Heat-related deaths could increase by 370% by mid-century due to climate change. The world is on track for 2.7°C of heating by 2100 unless emission reductions are made. Vulnerable groups have already experienced detrimental effects from heat waves, with older people and infants having twice as many heat wave days compared to 20 years ago.
